Complete Opposites

Three days, two opposite parts of our country on two sides of the clock:

Day 1: Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Temperature: 81 degrees.
Clothing - Bathing suit, flip flops.
Sunscreen - Yes.
Drink of choice - Water.

I flew all night to get here, followed by sleep at 6:15AM Atlantic time (3:15AM body time) and a wake up at 11:20AM Atlantic time (8:20AM body time).

Day 3: Seattle, WA

Temperature: 34 degrees.
Clothing - Parka, gloves.
Drink of choice - Hot coffee.

I awoke at 4:00AM Pacific time to fly a trip to Seattle and back. Remember I went to sleep the following night in Florida at 3:15AM, so it really confuses the body as when to sleep and when to wake. The normal circadian rhythm is 100 percent convoluted.

The following day at home is completely useless, and most of us call the day after a trip like this a write-off day. One must also be careful after flying with a convoluted circadian clock, as I've opened a car door right into my face, creating a to rush to the hospital for stitches in my forehead. I usually let dishes pile up high, don't make the bed, and sit like a zombie in front of the television well past 2PM. Yes, I can even find it difficult to make a meal for myself. Basically, I usually cannot function as a normal human being for the rest of the afternoon. Pretty sad, but this is a normal fact of life when my internal clock is tinkered with.

Oh well, I still find it entertaining. Sadly, my wife does not.
