Fall Walk, Portland Oregon
My trips to balmy paradise have ended, and I am finally enjoying a cool fall walk here in Portland, Oregon. The rain is beginning to fall once again as we venture out of our hotel in search of food and possibly a hot beverage. It's also nice to see views that resemble what most of the Northern Hemisphere is experiencing this time of year. It's hard to find views like this in Southern California or Florida. How beautiful is this?
Then again, I can leave this cold and damp scene while locals are stuck here in this gray mess until June. As a matter of fact, the most common thing I hear from locals as we open the aircraft door in Long Beach is, "SUN!"

I was there last week (the company sent me up there for TDY) and hit Voodoo Donuts... it was awesome! I actually had it for dessert.
Hi Scott,
Funny enough, my Voodoo Doughnut experience was pretty good too (the post is coming up on the 19th of Dec).
Thanks for reading!

My daughter just moved outside of Portland after 10 years in Connecticut. She's looking forward to winter. It's all relative!
Voodoo Doughnuts were great until they were featured on TV. Now every time I'm at PDX I see someone with a pink box of doughnuts. Anytime I go downtown and drive by, it's full of tourists or other morons who start stammering when it's time to order. Just go in, order the bacon maple bar or The Loop and leave.
They had Nyquil and Pepto Bismol glazed doughnuts before. Never got to try them--the health department put a stop to those fairly quickly.
Ha ha. The first time I had a Voodoo Doughnut was on the plane in PDX about 5 mins til pushback. One of our FAs came up and gave me the Oreo doughnut with chunks of Oreo on top. It was pretty good, but I can eat only one of those per quarter, or maybe per year! It was not until I ended up at the actual shop a few months later in Portland that I put 2-and-2 together and made the connection that "Oh, these are those Voodoo Doughnuts."

Did you spend your flight to LGB thinking you were about to enter a diabetic coma after eating that doughnut?
Two places to try in Portland when you're there: Pok Pok and Mother's. Mother's is at 2nd/Stark (good Italian place next door that is owned by the same person) and Pok Pok is at SE. Division and 32nd Ave. Not sure if that's at all convenient to where you guys stay (it's on the E. side of the river).
We stay next to the river on Morrison. Will look into those places. Portland has some great restaurants (and food trucks too).
